Oscar's Creamery - History
Oscars Creamery, founded in 1955 as Puritan Ice Cream in Cresco Iowa by Will “Oscar” Rathert, has been a local favorite for generations.
Will brought his business to Houston in 1985 and settled in the Champions area. His family recipes were developed by his grandfather in the 1930s. According to Oscar "there is no substitute for quality" This is why we use cream with 18% butterfat content to make our Ice Cream because it produces an incredibly smooth texture. All our ingredients; candies, flavorings, fruits, and nuts are of the highest quality available. Tim "Oscar" Hone produces our Ice Cream in small batches to further ensure quality, freshness and flavor.
Originally Oscar's Ice Cream was sold to the finest restaurants in Houston. Our Spumoni is a time honored old fashioned recipe that many Italian restaurants serve. Oscar's Ice Cream has been served in over 50 Ice Cream Shops in the Houston area.
